Poundland Shortlisted For Top Industry Awards

Discount retailer named as finalist for Retail Week Awards

RWAPoundland, Europe’s largest single price general merchandise retailer, has been shortlisted in two categories for the Retail Week Awards with Oracle 2016, which reward excellence and outstanding achievements across the industry.

The retailer has been named as a finalist in the Speciality Retailer of the Year category against the likes of Brighthouse, GAME Digital, Holland and Barrett and Screwfix.

Poundland are hoping to walk away with the award, which gives recognition to the UK’s retailers who have a particular USP or specialist knowledge, having delivered an outstanding business performance in the past year.

2015 has seen Poundland successfully acquire 99p Stores, launch the E-commerce website in September, and post a £1.1 billion turnover figure for the year ending March 2015.

Poundland has also been shortlisted for the Customer Experience Initiative of the Year award for the launch of the E-commerce website.

The award serves to highlight a retailer’s commitment to customer service and providing a great customer experience. Shortlisted entrants also include John Lewis, Hobbycraft, Mothercare and Argos.

Since opening its first store 25 years ago, Poundland now has over 900 stores and offers amazing everyday value with thousands of items at just £1 each to over 7 million customers.

The retailer offers over 1,000 top brands including Cadbury’s, Heinz and Coca-Cola and over 3,500 daily essentials including everything from household products to health & beauty and a number of exclusive and seasonal ranges, including the Make Up Gallery cosmetics line, Jane Asher’s Kitchen and Tommy Walsh DIY:time range.
