Salary range: £25,000 - £28,000
Job Purpose:
To maximise return for each product group through range and stock planning and providing buyers with sufficient information to make effective buying decisions.
Assist in the establishment of merchandise range plans and margin mix for product groups and producing throughput and intake plans for pipeline planning.
The priorities for a Merchandiser and the principle criteria by which they are measured are: -

- Manage and report on inventory by type
- Deliver days cover stock targets.
- Deliver product availability targets set by Merchandiser.

Scope
Responsibility for allocated product groups, managed in line with the company control systems and within boundaries of defined authority.
Key Objectives
- Establish merchandise range plans for product groups.
- Make optimal use of Marketmax space planning tool.
- Manage throughput and intake plans for effective pipeline planning.
- Manage exit of under-performing and excess stock items (including seasonal).
- Monitor and report on inventory by type.
- Analyse net profitability at product class/sub class level.
- Continuously monitor auto replenishment levels with merchandiser.
- Manage monthly product targets by sales, margin and days stock.
- Conduct customer focussed research, sales projections and analysis to support seasonal line review process.
- Cost and select optimum supply route in liaison with Merchandisers and Imports team.
- Input to company policies and operating standards, in the buying and merchandising department. Ensure that new systems and initiatives are implemented successfully, and that the benefits are fully realised by everyone within the department.
Knowledge Requirements
- Management Accounts
Have a clear understanding of the application of capital and revenue Management Accounts, P&L including cash flow, stockholding.
- Retail Procedures
Have knowledge of retail procedures and understand the requirements of the law particularly in relation to food hygiene and health & safety.
- Personnel Policies and Procedures
Understand the general requirements and restrictions of employment law and ensure the application of the policies and procedures.
- People
Understand and demonstrates the need to share information through development of effective working relationships.
- Support Centre Functions
Understand the role of the Support Centre functions and the procedures that can be utilised to maximise the impact of the role.

Computer literacy combined with an understanding of general systems information and its application. The need for strong analytical skills and interpretation of raw data in to useable management information.
