Poundland Make Up Gallery Wins Grocer Gold Award 2015

The retailer’s Make Up Gallery cosmetics line wins Own Label Range of the Year at The Grocer Gold Awards


Poundland, Europe’s largest single priced general merchandise retailer, has won gold at the prestigious Grocer Gold Awards for its best-selling cosmetics line, Make Up Gallery.

The awards, hailed as the Oscars of the FMCG industry, were held last night (Tuesday 9 June 2015), at Guildhall, London.

Poundland’s Make Up Gallery range won Own Label Brand of the Year at the awards, beating off stiff competition from the likes of Tesco’s Free From range, Asda’s George range and Aldi’s Specially Selected range.

The Own Label Brand of the Year award recognises the best own-label range launched, relaunched, developed or extended by a retailer or wholesaler in 2014.

The Make Up Gallery range was launched in October 2014, with women’s magazines Vogue and Cosmopolitan praising the range. Consumer demand was so phenomenal that extra product had to air freighted in during December.

Over 100 cosmetics products are included in the range, including foundations, mascaras, eyeshadows and lip glosses, all for the amazing price of just £1 each.

To date, over 4 million items of the range have been sold in Poundland stores across the country, with new lines planned to launch this June.
