Poundland raises £110,000 for Make-A-Wish, Tommy’s and Whizz-Kids
Since November 2017 Poundland staff have raised an incredible £110,000 in support of the new charity partnership between Make-A-Wish, Tommy’s, and Whizz-Kidz. Here’s what donations to each charity will mean for the families you are helping us to support.
£36,000 could grant 10 magical wishes to children with life-threatening conditions.
Ethan, aged 6, is living with non-correctable and palliated congenital heart defects. The condition can require surgery and the symptoms include rapid heartbeat, excessive sweating and extreme tiredness. Ethan is often breathless and he is unable to walk long distances. £36,000 could fund a specialist midwife for a year, preventing stillbirth and supporting mums and babies at our Manchester research centre.
Dave and Laura Liggins were cared for by Tommy’s team at our specialist clinic for stillbirth and small babies in Manchester. “Every time I look at my tiny daughter, I can’t believe she’s really here. Casey has been a fighter since before she was born, we’re just incredibly grateful that she had the Tommy’s team in her corner.” Click here to read the full case study.
£36,000 could pay for 10 pieces of equipment for young wheelchair users.
Joshua, a sporty teenage boy, aspires to be a Paralympian and currently competes in both wheelchair rugby and fencing. His condition means he is unable to walk unaided so relies on crutches, a walker, or a wheelchair at all times. Click here to read the full case study.
