    We are pleased to offer our customers the chance to recycle their old electrical items on a like-for-like basis free of charge.

    For example, if you purchased a new toaster from Poundland we would accept your old toaster back and prevent it from going into a landfill site by disposing of it safely.

    This is available in all of our stores, please ask a store colleague for details.

    Please ensure you have your proof of purchase available.

  • Did You Know?

    Unwanted electrical equipment is one of the UK's fastest growing waste streams.

    Many electrical items can be repaired or recycled, saving natural resources and the environment.

    If you don't recycle, electrical equipment can end up in landfill where hazardous substances may leak out and cause soil and water contamination, harming wildlife and also human health. 

  • The crossed out wheeled bin symbol on equipment means that it should not be disposed of in normal household waste.

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations

The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) Directive requires UK distributors to maximise separate collection and environmentally friendly processing of WEEE. UK distributors (including retailers) are required to provide a system which allows all customers buying new electronic equipment the opportunity to recycle their old items free of charge. As a responsible retailer, we have met these requirements by offering all customers buying new electrical and electronic equipment free take back to their old electricals on a like-for-like basis.

Battery Waste

We offer free recycling of your waste or used batteries if you drop them at our collection point in-store.

We accept any type of sealed battery for examples AA, AAA, 9V, button cell batteries, rechargeable batteries and batteries from mobile phones, laptops, hearing aids, watches, portable cameras, torches, electric toothbrushes, razors, hand-held vacuum cleaners.

We do NOT accept car and motorbike batteries or batteries from industrial equipment.
