Instructions For Use
Seed Mixture
5 Lettuce varieties Lollo Bionda, Rocket, Chicory & Mervelile De Quatre Saisons. Lettuce can be harvested as baby leaves or mature plants.
Sow Indoors
Sow seeds in drills 1cm deep in trays of damp compost on a warm windowsill or heated greenhouse. Thin seedlings to 10cm apart for baby leaves. Sow every few weeks for perpetual leaves.
Hardening Off
When the risk of frost has passed, place plants outdoors during the day and bring them indoors at night. Repeat this process for 7 days, after which the plants can remain outdoors.
Sow Outdoors
Prepare the area by removing weeds and stones and raking the soil to a fine tilth. Sow seeds directly in drills 1cm deep and 20cm apart. Thin seedlings to 10cm apart for baby leaves or 30cm apart for mature plants.
Lollo rossa produces compact loose-leaf type with frilled red leaves, while lollo bionda produces frilled yellow/green leaves. Merveille des Quatre Saisons is a butterhead type with red-tingled leaves. Chiocry leaves are firm and crisp with red edges. Fast-growing rocket leaves are smooth and packed with peppery flavour.
