Strawberry Korona Roots

Strawberry Korona is a robust variety celebrated for its large, sweet, and juicy strawberries. Originating from European breeding programs, these compact plants spread easily through their roots and thrive in various settings, including containers and raised beds. They ripen early in the season and are known for their disease resistance, making them easy to grow for all gardeners. With proper care, they yield generous harvests and are versatile in culinary uses, from desserts to salads, making them a popular choice among home gardeners.

Ingredients

Fragaria

Instructions For Use

Plant from March to May, spreading 35cm apart with 5cm to grow above. It will develop fully from July to August.

Directions For Use

Planting

Strawberries should be planted in well-drained, fertile soil in a sunny but sheltered spot. Avoid areas prone to frost and previously had potatoes, tomatoes and Chrysanthemums growing on them. Plant Strawberries in spring rather than Winter, as the ground will be too wet and cold. If planting in poorer soils, grow your Strawberries in raised beds. This will improve the drainage and increase rooting depth.

Cultivation

Water the plants frequently during the growing season while they establish dry weather. When watering, water from the base of the plant rather than overhead, as this may rot the crown of the fruit. During the growing season, add liquid potash feed or Tomato Feed once a week as the fruit develops. Place straw underneath the plants to prevent the strawberries from rotting on the soil. This will also help suppress weeds.

Harvest

Strawberries should be harvested during the warmest part of the day and when they are bright red. This is when they are at their most tasty. After harvesting, remove the old straw and use secateurs or hand shears to snip off all the old leaves.

Warning
